Power Unit No. 3 of Smolenskaya GRES Branch of Unipro PJSC has been shut down for overhaul as per the schedule agreed upon with the System operator.
Repair works at the facility will take three months ending this October. The extended overhaul term is preconditioned by the need to prolong economic life of the Power Unit main equipment.
The maintenance will cover the main and auxiliary thermal and mechanical equipment, generator, and draft equipment. It is also planned to install metal-fluoroplastic band on the sliding supports of the first and second turbine bearings during the repair. This will eliminate the cause of the turbine expansion failure and improve reliability of the turbine unit.
In addition, within the framework of the maintenance campaign routine repairs of Power Units No. 1 and No. 2 have been performed to ensure reliable operation of the equipment and prepare for the upcoming autumn-winter heating season.
