On 25 October 2018, Alexander Uss, Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, Sergey Eremin, Head of Krasnoyarsk, and Maxim Shirokov, CEO of Unipro PJSC, opened Pokrovsky Park.
The creation of a new modern park located on the side of Karaulnaya Mountain within a short distance from Paraskeva Pyatnitsa Chapel – the main landmark of Krasnoyarsk – was made possible thanks to the support of Unipro PJSC. The deliverables of landscaping activities include new sidewalks, benches, and a dog running and training ground. The park now has new trees and bushes, an expanded greenspace, and new landscape forms. An open-air amphitheatre with a stage and auditorium seating was created for cultural and educational events. The square on the eastern side has a playground for kids of different ages. Next to the park, a 100-car parking was arranged with a bus stop and spots for disabled people. Furthermore, a visit centre was created for the guests of the park accommodating a souvenir shop, a small cafe, restrooms, and a baby care room. Extensive work was done to create a state-of-the-art illumination system in Pokrovsky Park. The design was prepared by the company that designed the illumination system in Zaryadye Park in Moscow. Apart from the installation of the state-of-the-art park illumination system, the illumination of Paraskeva Pyatnitsa Chapel and Karaulnaya Mountain side was replaced. Moreover, the park is equipped with terminal points, which will make it possible to improve the park infrastructure quality.
Alexander Uss thanked Unipro management for the new recreation area for the residents of Krasnoyarsk. “I am certain that such islands of landscaping solutions comfortable for local residents of different age should emerge in different districts of the city. People are already drawing a parallel between Pokrovsky Park and Zaryadye Park in Moscow and we like such parallels,” – Alexander Uss said. Sergey Eremin, Head of the City, highlighted that the key priority now is to maintain the new recreation area tidy and clean. “We are already developing the mechanisms to take care of the vegetation and ensure general improvements. This park should be alive, as the city residents will spend their free time here. This is why it must always be tidy and clean,” Eremin said.
Maxim Shirokov, General Director of Unipro PJSC, emphasised that the company’s principled position was to involve local contractors from the Krasnoyarsk Territory in the creation of the park. Reliance on local human resources did pay off. The park was developed virtually within four months. “Let this beautiful and modern recreation area be a gift to the residents of the Krasnoyarsk Territory in the run-up to the World University Games. Besides, our company has made the decision to allocate money to organise the exposition of Vasily Surikov’s masterpiece The Capture of Snow Town in Krasnoyarsk. The exhibition will open in mid-February and last through the end of March.
