This year's Fire Brigade Day was a special event for Berezovskaya GRES. On the eve of the celebration, April 29, the Sirena Fire and Emergency Rescue Service unveiled the monument to the Berezovskaya GRES fire brigade.
The monument is a fire engine AC-40 (131) 137 A, which has served more than 30 years: it was on guard at Berezovskaya GRES from 1985 to 2018. The vehicle was not scrapped, thanks only to the passion of the firefighters and the support of the station's management. It was preserved, cleaned up, and placed on its pedestal.
Konstantin Datsenko, head of Sirena Fire and Emergency Rescue Service, made an opening speech and thanked the Power Plant for fruitful joint work in providing fire safety of the facility, noted the active assistance in creation of the monument by the heads of the Power Plant organization units including Deputy Head of Fuel and Transport Shop Victor Konstantinov and Head of the Warehouse Group Victor Gorin. In response, Dmitry Kazarin, director of Berezovskaya GRES, congratulated the firefighters on the holiday and presented a memorable gift to the Sirena management.
Internal Services Lieutenant-Colonel Vladimir Shmelev, head of the 11th Fire and Rescue Department of the Federal Fire-Fighting Service of State Fire-Fighting Service of Krasnoyarsk Directorate of RF Emercom, also gave a congratulatory speech. He noted that this is the second memorial to firefighters and rescuers to be unveiled these days:
"A memorial plaque was unveiled on the grounds in the school No. 3 in honour of Sharypovo resident Maxim Ryabtsev, who died saving a man's life while extinguishing a major fire in Krasnoyarsk. Maxim Ryabtsev began his work as a firefighter in the Sirena squad. He was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage. And it’s our duty to always honor this memory and this profession, which is the choice of strong men!"
The ceremony ended with a laying of flowers - those present paid tribute to firefighters and rescuers who lost their lives in the line of duty.
