Krasnoyarsk Krai Students Submitted Their Ideas to Manage Ash and Slag at Berezovskaya GRES

On November 3, the finals of the Professtionals of the Future case chfmpionship took place on the basis of the Shrypovsky Multi-Profile College. Vasily Petrochenko (Deputy Director for Major Construction at Berezovskaya GRES), Snezhana Barteneva (Deputy Director for HR Management), Andrey Frolov (Head of the Production and Technical Service), Dmitry Sharonin (Head of the Technical Division) and Vladimir Seleznev (Head of the Boiler and Turbine Shop) served as experts.

Professionals of the Future is the movement enabling students of post-secondary education institutions to deal with cases proposed by major companies, to design an innovative solution for the manufacturing sector, university or small business. Unipro PJSC’s Berezovskaya GRES branch proposed students to deal with the ash and slag issue.

The teams from post-secondary education institutions of the Krasnodar krai submitted their projects. Sixteen works advanced to the finals. On 3 November, the Sharypovo Multi-Profile College hosted the in-person presentation of finalist projects.

‘We’ve designated the issue we’ve been dealing with for 35 years already, – Vladimir Seleznev, Head of the Boiler and Turbine Shop at Berezovskaya GRES, said. – We have awarded high scores to two of the proposed solutions. The Krasnoyarsk Institute of Railway Transport submitted the work on electro-hydro-impulsive ash treatment. We’ve shared contacts and scheduled further communications. The event has surely paid off, we’ve received a lot of useful information and contacts.’

‘I considered myself to know quite a lot about today’s topic. But even the junior league surprised me. I’ve drawn new information, although I thought it would be unlikely. Our youth is very promising,’ Andrey Frolov, Head of the Production and Technical Service at Berezovskaya GRES, noted.

As a result, the highest scores were awarded to the team from the Zheleznogorsk Mining and Metallurgy College – in the junior league, and the team from the Krasnoyarsk Institute of Rail Transport (branch of the Irkutsk State Transport University) – in the major league.

Participation in that case championship is another step towards looking for and exploring more environmentally-friendly and high-tech solutions pursuant to the principles laid down by Unipro’s ESG strategy.
