From 11 to 24 July, a large amount of work was completed at the Plant to prepare the equipment for the winter season. Four large valves over 500 mm in diameter, and more than 30 smaller gate valves were replaced. The upgraded valves will make it possible, if necessary, to take individual sections of the heating system out for repairs without shutting down the entire system.
In addition, the thermal insulation on the heating system equipment was replaced at the Plant. Two heat transfer fluid pumps were overhauled. All 15 line pumps were serviced.
An inspection is scheduled for October, and will involve supervisory personnel of the fluid coupling manufacturer. The results will be used to make repairs to the equipment.
Following the diagnostics, local replacement of heating system pipeline sections, including two 800 mm dia. sections with a total length of about 4 meters, was conducted at the Plant.
All the planned activities have been completed in full. Filling of the system and hydraulic testing of the heating network were conducted on time. No issues were identified.
