Clothes, garden furniture, new pens and notebooks are just some of the things we can make from trash. The other day, the power engineers of Shaturskaya GRES conducted an eco-lesson for the students of the first grade of school No. 2 of Shatura. The topic was the separate garbage collection and recycling.
The eco-lesson began with watching of a cartoon in which ‘Uniproshka’, a character representing the company, teaches how to sort waste. Immediately afterwards, Marina Osipova, an engineer of the environmental group of the Reliability, Fire and Environmental Safety Department of Shaturskaya GRES branch of Unipro PJSC, told about the importance of eco-savings, and then the children all together solved an environmental crossword puzzle and practiced sorting waste.
"Despite their young age, the children know quite well what garbage is, give examples, and actively participate in the discussion. However, almost no one has any idea how much waste one person produces in just one year. And this is no less than 400–500 kilograms!", said Marina.
During the lesson, the focus was on conscious consumption, and separate collection of waste: paper, plastic, glass, metal, as well as hazardous waste such as batteries and accumulators, which should be collected separately from all other categories. The children learned what types of waste can be reused, and what products can be obtained from them.
They also told the children about the recycling collection points located in Shatura urban district.
